New Twists
- in
some-ways it took 10 years to come up with these painted constructions:
- an unexpected hybrid of elements from the MetaConstruct
these elements back-to-back
they`re suspended out vertically from the wall,
like implements waiting to be used again
with that ol' modern-praxis I assemble one-a-day:
red plastic fulcrum attached with countersunk brass screws
and frontal-image element glued to cork back of landscapes
cork-backing painted same warm-black (over vermilion) thin coating as
front frontal-images sealed and receptive fine gesso surface rebuilt
acrylic colors for additional wedge-element already
selected/purchased
- preparation of constellation panels:
- from portions of old solar-system wallpaper
- adhered to 3/8ths inch plywood and varathaned
- curved sections cut from panels to match resultant shape in front of
frontal-image
also procured some fine blue arcylic scraps to backup the
front-images
will also use wooden domino fragments and opaque white plastic
- many of the components from past installations seem to be
coalescing into a final series of constructions that will likely never be
exhibited
- I`m hanging them in their various own on-going states of renewal
way up in a
darkened, dirty overhead stairwell leading
into the cellar
- there really was no reason or benefit in believing
- a horrified recognition
- a totally administered society
- plan on including measured sections of the Trellis-paintings:
- various configurations of elaborate trellises disassembled and
- painted very careful, gradual gradations of oil-based blues and
red-violets,
- between the assembly joints of the trellises
- moved back to Portland and moved from the old house to an elevated, former condo, apartment up in the woods of the SW hills: has fireplace, great glass doors/windows and deck overlooking green-space with small creek, towering fir trees and birds (nuthatches, woodpeckers, crows, stellar's jay, flickers, dipper, chickadees, creeper) ...

recently moved to San Francisco -
working for 'Wired Magazine'
- had opportunity to add to my collection of formed-metal
signage
- still intriguing... a reminiscent blend of type,
architecture, painting, and sculpture
- side show
- salton sea trip
- new big iris digital prints of boston and 12hr imagery...
